App & settings
Settings
Appearance and themes, display mode, language, download destination, USB auto-launch, notifications, and more.
Open Settings from the Home menu. Here’s what each section does.
Appearance
- Display mode — System default, Light, or Dark.
- App theme — the colour palette. All eleven are free: Slate (the default), Futuristic, Terminal, Nebula, Sunset, Oceanic, Sakura, Espresso, Olive, Midnight, and Ink.
The app’s palette is a separate thing from the boot menu your drive shows at startup. For that, see Boot-menu themes.
Language
Choose System default, English, Español, Português (Brasil), Русский, or हिन्दी. Picking a language switches the whole app immediately; System default follows your phone’s language.
Downloads
Save downloads to sets where in-app downloads go:
- Ask every time — BootForge prompts per download.
- This phone — your device library.
- USB drive — straight to the connected drive.
You can change this any time, and the per-download prompt lets you remember your choice.
USB drive
Open when a drive is connected controls whether Android may offer to open BootForge when you plug in a USB drive. It’s off by default. Turn it on, and the first time you connect a drive tap “Use by default for this USB device” to make it automatic. BootForge can’t force this, because Android owns the “use by default” choice, and turning it off stops the prompt entirely. (Tap How this works for the full explanation.)
Notifications (Pro)
Three separate opt-ins, all off until you turn them on:
- Ventoy updates — when a newer Ventoy version is released.
- Your drives — when one of your prepared drives can be updated.
- Saved-image updates — when a saved image in your Library has a newer version.
Turning any of them on asks Android for permission to post notifications. Free users see this section as a single locked row that opens the Pro showcase. The in-app Update available badge on a saved image is free either way; only the notification is Pro.
BootForge Pro
Shows whether Pro is active, or opens the showcase where you can Unlock Pro (a one-time purchase) and Restore purchase on a new device. See BootForge Pro.
More
- Send feedback — report a bug or share an idea.
- Rate BootForge and Share BootForge.
- Open-source notices — licenses and source links for the software BootForge uses, also covered in Privacy, licenses & trademarks.
USB details, Ventoy assets, and image verification live under Tools, not here.
Developer (debug builds only)
Two toggles appear only in debug builds: Simulate Pro, used during development to preview the free and Pro experiences, and Simulate connected drive, which renders the drive screens without hardware for screenshots. Neither is present in the version you install from Google Play.
